The History of Microplan Italy

The production company Microplan Italia Srl traces its roots back to 1976, when the young entrepreneur Luigi Demagistri, after working for 3 years at the historic firm Poli di Varallo (VC), decided, together with his wife Silvia Laguzzi, To start up its own production of black granite measuring and control instruments for industry. From a small craft business, the small company has become an industrial enterprise over the years: thanks to the resourcefulness and technical knowledge of its founder Luigi Demagistri, in 1985 MICRONAG S.r.l., based in Quarona and with a production unit in Prato Sesia (NO), was founded. In 1989, thanks to the growing market demand and the need to expand production capacity, MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l.

In 1995, the production activity moved and expanded by settling in the new industrial area of Roccapietra – Varallo (VC), the company’s current headquarters: thanks to the purchase of new machinery, the company grows and employs new human resources, Addressing new challenges in the field of metrology and industry and developing new products.

Following further extensions of the buildings in 2011, 2016, 2019 and 2021, Microplan Italia reaches the current total property area of about 25,000 sqm, of which over 7,000 sqm covered.

Microplan Italia today

Under the direction of the brothers Gabriele and Maria Chiara Demagistri, Microplan Italia today employs about 60 employees, including clerks, workers and apprentices who are regularly trained for the various tasks in the production cycle: cutting granite slabs, Precision shaping, grinding and lapping, milling and drilling of the workpiece, application of threaded inserts for fixing parts, precision assemblies, finishing and packaging. The entire work cycle, based on complete traceability from raw material to after-sales service, thanks to the investments of Industry 4.0, is monitored and managed by each department in a digitised manner.

Microplan Italia, together with its subsidiary Microplan France, provides a wide range of loyal customers operating in the following sectors: Metrology, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Machine Tools, Automotive, Aeronautics and Space, Railway and Naval, Electronics and Micro-electronics, Semiconductors, Printing and Etching, Energy, Optics, Medical, Research Centres and Universities.

Thanks to the R & D department, today Microplan Italia carries out research on precision machining on innovative materials, developing new products and measurement and control solutions to meet market needs, both in the electronic field and in metrology and mechanics in general.

Our history in pills

1976

After working at the Poli firm in Varallo, in September 1976 Luigi Demagistri and his wife Silvia started their own production of measuring and control instruments made of black granite for industry. In the following years, the activity will be consolidated in MICROPLAN S.r.l.

1985

As the demand for granite components for machines and precision applications grows from year to year, it is decided to create a specific production unit for these products. In 1985 the company "MICRONAG S.r.l." was founded, later transformed into the current MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l.

1989

The MICROPLAN FRANCE Sarl commercial branch is opened for commercial activity in France, at Villard de Lans, near Grenoble. Commercial management by Albert Filotti.

1994

The Group is enriched by a new company in France, with the acquisition in 1991 of "ATELIER MAITRE EUROPE S.A.", a competitor in the field of granite tools and specialized in large-scale basements. It will then be merged under the name of MICROPLAN FRANCE S.A. with the sales subsidiary which has existed in France since 1989, of which Luigi Demagistri is President and General Manager.

1995

MICROPLAN ITALIA Srl moves all its production activities to the new headquarters in Varallo (VC). At the end of the construction works for the production plant in the industrial area of Roccapietra, in 1995 the founder Luigi Demagistri begins important investments in new plants and machinery.

1999

In 1999, the production of components (machine tool bases) in synthetic granite (also called mineral cast iron or composite granite) was started with the establishment of CELITH Sarl, which gives its name to the composite material itself, Strategically located in the same production area as its MICROPLAN FRANCE subsidiary at La Forêt du Temple, in central France.

2000

MICROPLAN Srl inaugurates the new plant in Quarona (VC) in Italy. In addition to the standard production and the production of basements and granite drawings, thanks to the knowledge acquired both in the metrological field and in particular in the mechanical production of high precision (pneumatic guides, composite materials and innovative), both in electronics and software development, the Microplan Group has created special equipment that have allowed to solve problems of "measurement" of numerous customers, with a "modular" design system and with the assembly of components and equipment such as measuring scales, laser systems, linear motors, etc...

2001

Constant investments in ever more efficient production machinery, in the training of qualified personnel and in the improvement of production management, guarantee to the customers of the world market a service always updated to the highest quality standards. The MICROPLAN® brand was registered in 2007 to guarantee this quality.

2007

The MICROPLAN GROUP, formed by the companies MICROPLAN Srl (holding company), MICROPLAN ITALIA Srl, MICROPLAN FRANCE SA and CELITH Sarl, is able to provide its customers with a complete range of metrological instruments: from granite tables and accessories to design structures; from vacuum-pneumostatic sliding applications, to Custom solutions adapted to specific measurement and control needs; from electronic instruments such as Wireless measuring probes and instruments for measuring large diameters.

2011

In 2011, the production company Microplan Italia Srl expands the production area of the Varallo (VC) site by an additional 600 square meters.

2012

After extensive research and testing, production of alumina ceramic elements for the manufacture of metrological components up to 2500 mm in length is started at the French plant of La Forêt du Temple (France).

2014

The company MICROPLAN FRANCE SA acquires by merger CELITH Sarl under the new name MICROPLAN FRANCE SAS.

2017

Microplan Italia Srl inaugurates a new production hall that expands the production area of over 1000 square meters and the storage area of raw material of more than 2000 square meters, making important investments in new production machinery updated to the highest quality standards.
