The production company Microplan Italia Srl has its roots in 1976, when the young entrepreneur Luigi Demagistri, after having worked for 3 years at the historic company Poli in Varallo (VC), decides, together with his wife Silvia Laguzzi, to start a own business for the production of granite measuring and inspection instruments for industry. Over the years, the small company transformed from an artisan activity into an industrial enterprise: thanks to the initiative and technical knowledge of the founder Luigi Demagistri, the company MICRONAG Srl was born in 1985, with headquarters in Quarona and production unit in Prato Sesia (NO). In 1989 MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l was born, following the growing market demand and the need to expand the production capacity.

In 1995 the production activity moves and expands, settling in the new industrial area of Roccapietra – Varallo (VC), the current headquarters of the company: thanks to the purchase of new machinery, the company grows and employs new human resources, facing new challenges in metrology and industry and developing new products. Following further expansions of the buildings in 2011, 2016, 2019 and 2021, Microplan Italia reaches the current total area owned by approximately 25,000 square meters, of which over 7,000 covered square.

Under the direction of the brothers Gabriele and Maria Chiara Demagistri, Microplan Italia Srl now employs about 60 employees, including office workers, workers and apprentices who are regularly trained for the various tasks of the production cycle: cutting granite slabs, shaping, precision grinding and lapping, milling and drilling of the piece, application of threaded inserts for fixing parts, precision assemblies, finishing and packaging. The entire work cycle, based on complete traceability from raw material to after-sales assistance thanks to the investments of Industry 4.0, is monitored and managed by each department in a digitalized manner.

Microplan Italia Srl, together with the subsidiary Microplan France, provides a large loyal clientele operating in the following sectors: Metrology, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Machine Tool, Automotive, Aeronautics and Space, Railway and Naval, Electronics and Micro-electronics, Semiconductors, Printing and Engraving, Energy, Optics, Medical, Research Centers and Universities.

Thanks to the R&D department, today Microplan Italia carries out research on precision machining on innovative materials, developing new products and measurement and control solutions to meet the needs of the market, both in the electronic and in the metrological and mechanical fields in general.

Our history in pills

1976

After working for the Poli company in Varallo Sesia, in September 1976, Luigi Demagistri, with his wife Silvia, starts his own production of industrial black granite measurement and control instrument. In the following years this business will consolidate into Microplan S.r.l. In the following years this business will consolidate into Microplan S.r.l.

1985

Thanks to the growing demand of granite components for machineries and various precision applications, stronger every year, a specific production plant is established. In 1985 the society “MICRONAG S.r.l.” is created, which will later develop into the actual MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l.

1989

The commercial branch MICROPLAN FRANCE Sarl, located in Villard de Lans, nearby Grenoble, is open, responsible for the commercial activities in France. Management will be given to mr. Albert Filotti (in the picture, on the right).

1994

The group continues its growth with a new society in France, acquiring, in 1991, the company “ATELIER MAITRE EUROPE S.A.”, a competitor in field of granite instruments and specialized in great sized plates. After acquiring, the company is fused under the single name of MICROPLAN FRANCE S.A., together with the commercial branch created in 1989, with Mr. Luigi Demagistri as President and CEO.

1995

MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l moves its whole production activities into a new location in Varallo (VC). Once the building process for the new production factory in the industrial district of Roccapietra, gets completed, begins a phase of investment for new machineries and plants.

1999

In 1999 begins the production also of components (base for machine tools) realized in synthetic granite (called also mineral iron or composite granite) thanks to the creation of the society named “CELITH Sarl”, which gives also the name to the material itself. This society is strategically located in the same area as the group partner MICROPLAN FRANCE in Forêt du Temple, in the middle of France.

2000

MICROPLAN S.r.l. establishes the new plant in Quarona (VC) in Italy. Next to the standard production and the realization of plates and custom-made bases, thanks to the competences acquired in the metrology field, the Microplan group has been able to realize many special solutions, specifically built to solve different “measurement” problems. With knowledges acquired in high-precision mechanic (air-bearing guides, composite and innovative materials), but also in electronics and software development, a module-based design system has been created, allowing also the installation of components like measurement scales or laser equipment, linear motors and much more.

2001

With constant investments in production machinery, always more efficient, in qualified employees and in production management improvements, customer of the Microplan group are always guaranteed for the best service, updated to the highest quality standards. As warranty for this Quality, in 2007, the MICROPLAN® mark has been officially registered.

2007

The Microplan Group, realized from the companies MICROPLAN S.r.l. (holding society), MICROPLAN ITALIA S.r.l., MICROPLAN FRANCE SA and CELITH Sarl is able to provide to its customers a complete range of metrology instruments: from plates and accessories in granite, to custom-made structures; from vacuum-air-bearing system installation, to personalized solutions, suited to specific measurement and control needs; from electronic instruments, like levels, to wire-alignment systems, from wireless probes, to great diameter measurement tools.

2011

In 2011, the production society Microplan Italia S.r.l. expands the usable surface of the Varallo Sesia (VC) plant of another 600 sqm.

2012

After careful research and experimentations, the production of elements in Allumina ceramic gets started, in order to realize components for metrology up to 2500 mm of length, in the French plant of La Forêt du Temple (France).

2014

The society MICROPLAN FRANCE SA takes over and merges with the CELITH Sarl with a new trade name MICROPLAN FRANCE SAS.

2017

Microplan Italia S.r.l. inaugurate a new building, increasing the productive area of more than 1000 sqm and the warehouse for the raw material of more than 2000 sqm, with also new important investment in production machineries, always updated to the highest quality standard.

2020

The new air-conditioned “Assembly Room” is inaugurated in the new pavilion D (Via Monte Rosa, 2), dedicated to precision assembly.

2021

MICROPLAN® Group celebrates the prestigious milestone of 45 years of activity.

2022

Microplan Italia starts the expansion works of the production area and external storage of the raw material.
